Coach Joel "Cy" Cyganiewicz
Coach Cy, as he is best known, has coached various levels of swimming, from tots to masters, in his career which spans over 45 years. He has the unique capability of explaining the swim strokes to an individual and his swimmers have had great success.
Coach Cy's list of accomplishments includes being a member of Pan Pacific USA Swimming coaching staff, member of a USA Swimming National Outreach Select Camp staff, six-time high school coach of the year (Kentucky), USA Swimming Coach of the Year (Tennessee and Kentucky), and having his teams place in the top six overall at three different Junior National. Coach Cy's swimmers have broken national, regional, state and local swim committee records. He is credited with introducing one of America's greatest champions, Tracy Caulkins, to the sport of competitive swimming.
Coach Cy is an ASCA Level 5 Age Group coach and has earned his ASCA Level 4 certification for senior swimmers. He brings 40 years of coaching experience to swimming, most recently as the Head Senior Coach at the Rochester Swim Club in Rochester, MN. He has built teams from the ground up and in largely non swimming areas, recruited and trained swimmers who went on to perform well in the National and International arenas. He is recognized by ASCA as one of the top fifty Age Group Coaches and one of the top 100 active USS coaches.
Just recently one of Cy's Masters Swimmers has been invited to respresent the USS at the World Triathlon Summer Championships in her age group.
Coach Ginger Cyganiewicz
Coach Ginger is an ASCA Level 3 coach and has coached all levels of swimming, from summer league through senior age group swimmers. Coach Ginger was the Head Age Group Zone coach in Iowa from 1996-98. Prior to that, she was an Age Group Zone coach in Kentucky for two years, and was a co-meet director for the 1990 Master's National meet. When not coaching, Ginger has also served as an official. Away from the pool, she has raised three sons who were also swimmers. In her professional career, she has worked as an administrative assistant, account representative, office manager, bookkeeper and teacher.
